1946
  • Stan Williams purchases Gibson Lumber on East Market Street in Rhinebeck and Williams Lumber is founded.
1963
  • Williams Lumber purchases Salt Point Supply Company and opens a second location.
1968
  • Williams Lumber moves its flagship location to Route 9 in Rhinebeck.
1980
  • To meet the needs of the growing community, Williams Lumber in Rhinebeck expands from 5500 sq.ft. to 13,000!
1985
  • To AGAIN meet the need of the growing community, Williams Lumber in Rhinebeck expands to 28,000 sq feet and is designated the Ace Hardware Store of the Future.
1989
  • Williams Lumber purchases and renovates Greenport Building Supply and creates Williams Lumber’s third location in Hudson.
  • Williams purchases Greenport Building Supply Company in Hudson.
1990
  • Williams Lumber in Rhinebeck expands again and becomes the largest independently home center in the area.
1993
  • Williams purchases Dain Lumber in Hopewell Junction and Highland.
1998
  • Williams purchases the Tannersville Supply Company in Tannersville.
1999
  • Williams creates Williams Express and moves to Red Hook
2002
  • Sandy Williams is named Dutchess County 2002 Business Person of the Year.
  • Williams purchases Cross Lumber in High Falls.
2008
  • Williams opens their brand new store in Hyde Park.
2010
  • Hudson Valley Magazine, Reader’s Pick – Best Hardware Store is awarded to Williams Lumber.

  • Williams hosts a Grand Reopening for the restored and renovated Rhinebeck Location following a partial rood collapse.
